Loggerheads Country Park, nestled in the village of Loggerheads, Denbighshire, Wales, is home to the Grade II* listed Pentre Mill, a historic corn mill that once powered a circular saw. This remarkable structure stands as a testament to the ingenuity of the past.
R. Moore Building Conservation Ltd. is currently undertaking vital conservation work on the mill’s associated buildings, including lime mortar repointing and the restoration of the stone steps leading to the upper levels.
The mill and its outbuildings were in continuous use until the 1940s but sadly fell into disrepair. Our latest work aims to ensure these historic buildings remain an enduring landmark for the many visitors who come to enjoy Loggerheads Country Park.
Working in this stunning location is a poignant reminder of how history and landscape are intrinsically linked here in Wales. Restoring this Grade II* listed mill is about more than safeguarding heritage; it’s about honouring the craftsmanship that shaped these surroundings and preserving a connection to the past. We feel privileged to carry out this work in such an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Work to Pentre Mill is now complete. The Oriel Gallery at Loggerheads Country Park in Denbighshire is regularly used by local artists to display their work. The completed conservation of the gallery ensures this historic building is every bit as inspiring as the art it houses.
